I own an Alpha-200 and have 2 other lens for it (Sony/Sigma) and this is just as reliable as the others… The only complaint I have is the zoom is a little stiff. I recently went to the Great Wall and the 300mm really got to shine! Overall it’s a sturdy 3, but the price makes it a 4, as it was very inexpensive.

My refurbished D40 has a tiny smudge on all photos which may be a defective ccd. Nikon tech support has to date been very helpful and I have sent the camera to a service center for repair. Hopefully I end up w/ a like-new camera.

This lens is great. Been using it for some time now with very impressive results. Colors and saturation are amazing, clarity is perfect. I honestly don’t see the advantage of spending $1000+ on a L series lens when looking through pics taken with this lens and an L series lens leaves me not knowing the difference between the two…
The AF is also quite fast and accurate. Nice lightweight lens that is pretty compact in size and takes awesome pictures.
I read reviews before purchasing to find people commenting on washed out colors… I’m just not seeing it. If the pictures had anymore color they’d be well over-saturated. This may be just my experience, but this lens is highly recommended!

Prior to this camera I was shooting with a Olympus 7070 which I still have and use but compared to this camera there is no comparison. I haven’t learned all the inter workings of the camera but I have taken it with me to many locations and it takes great pictures.
There was not a big learning curve, but I am seeking to get better buy reading there blog which is very informative.

This is a good lens but, with the built-in zoom on my camera, I didn’t really need it. It may just be that I need more experience with cameras and lenses before going for something like this.

I was surprised that this, relatively, cheap device could do all I wanted it to do, i.e., act as a shutter release (obviously), but also trigger the Bulb function. As I am new to the DSLR world, having owned several SLR’s in the past, I wasn’t sure how this would work. All you have to do in order to trigger the bulb function is set the camera on bulb and remote, then press the trigger button on the remote. Once the time you’re looking for passes, press the trigger button again and the shutter will close. Pretty straight forward, pretty simple, but it made me happy!

i received the remote in a small little envelope. I was surprised… i thought there was something to download. There was a plastic tab to pull that separated the battery from the remote. Don’t know the strength of the battery, but it works when you hold it towards the sensor of your camera. Now to hold your hand so it doesn’t look like you are pressing a remote. Yeah… that was the first shot, lol

This is my first (and probably last) DSLR camera. I am very pleased with it. I purchased it after a lot of research because I wanted the most camera I could get without a large investment. I also wanted a camera that wouldn’t require the next year or so to learn how to use it. This camera really fills the bill. Recently took it to Rocky Mtn. Nation Park and produced excellent photos. I have several Nikon digital point and shoot camera’s but the photo results and quick shutter of the D40 can’t be compared to the point and shoot camera’s. The Ken Rockwell http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d40.htm review settled the decision to but this camera. I’m glad I did. Now for a good flash; the remote and a telephoto.

The lens pen is a great tool that every photographer should have in their bag. Fast and painless way to get smudges and dust off of the lens. The bundled cleaning kit is actually pretty decent. The microfiber cloth is actually a microfiber cloth and doesn’t leave behind lint like some other cheap ones. The blower is compact and fits well in my camera bag. Haven’t used the lens cleaning fluid, tissues or swabs yet, but they appear to be of decent quality. Totally worth it for the price even if you never use the cleaning fluid
